SEEKING PART TIME DIRECTOR

 

The Pacific Birth Collective is seeking a part time Director to lead us into our next chapter.

Position Summary

  • - Work with & manage a group of volunteers who make up the Volunteer Council.
  • - Work with the Board of Directors to expand funding & implement projects.
  • - Help find & apply for grants & funding sources.
  • - Make website updates, send out newsletters, & help draft & send social media posts.
  • - Coordinate workshops & events either in person or online.
  • - Manage the existing grant projects and redefine the direction of the next chapter for PBC.
  • - Manage finances from memberships, grants, and workshops.
  • - Create and keep to a budget.
  • - Address hard topics such as protecting, supporting, and advocating for BIPOC birth keepers rights, addressing white privilege in birth work, and educating on the detriments of colonialism in Hawaii.

You will not be alone in this work. The board of directors will help get you up to speed, trained on the various platforms & systems and the Volunteer Council will help you implement the work. We are looking for a leader to help take charge with a group of dedicated and passionate volunteers. You do not have to be a birth worker to apply, though a passion to uphold and apply our mission is required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Passionate about supporting birth work (do not have to be a birth worker to apply).
  • Community relationship and building skills.
  • Computer skills - comfortable using and learning new systems.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Familiar with Social Media platforms Facebook and Instagram or willingness to learn.
  • Coordinate and manage a team of volunteers.
  • Work with the Board to expand funding, implement projects.
  • Lived in Hawaii for at least 1 year.
  • Basic understanding of colonialism in Hawai'i, it's detriments & how it's shaped the landscape of inequality for the Native Hawaiians & Pacific Islanders.

Desired

  • Lived in Hawaii, preferably Maui County, for at least 5 years. 
  • Knowledge of local issues in the birth community.
  • Grant writing skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of colonialism in Hawai'i, it's detriments & how it's shaped the landscape of inequality for the Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islanders.

Wages & Hours

  • Compensation varies upon qualifications.
  • Contractor position (does not include health insurance benefits, PTO, or sick leave).
  • Part time = 15-18 hours/week.
