Grief Support & Resources for Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss

Losing a pregnancy, baby, or child is an unimaginable heartbreak—one that no family should have to navigate alone. In Hawai‘i, where community and ‘ohana (family) are at the heart of our way of life, we honor the depth of your grief and offer support to help you through this journey.

This page provides resources for families who have experienced loss, including emotional support, support groups, and connections to professionals who understand the complexities of grief. Whether you are seeking counseling, community support, or ways to honor your loved one, we hope these resources offer comfort and guidance as you find your path forward.

You are not alone. Your grief is valid. And we are here to hold space for you.

First Steps After Loss

When you have just experienced the loss of a pregnancy, baby or child, it is natural to feel overwhelmed. Here are some immediate steps you may find helpful:

Give Yourself Space to Grieve

Take as much time as you need to process what has happened. It’s okay to cry, sit in silence, or simply be. There is no “right way” to grieve, and there is no rush.

Notify Loved Ones

If you feel comfortable, let close family or friends know. They may want to support you in practical ways, such as bringing meals, helping with other children, or offering emotional comfort.

Honor Your Child

Consider creating a moment of remembrance. You might name your baby, take photos, or keep a special item like a hospital blanket or bracelet.

Contact a Trusted Support Network

Seek immediate help from a counselor, spiritual leader, or a friend who can offer a listening ear
